It is hard to turn on the radio during the holidays and not hear Bing Crosby.  Well,  now you can do more than just listen to him, you can actually own his former home in Rancho Mirage, CA, for $5 million.   This home has been on and off the market in recent years and last sold for $2,625,000, in 2005.

Built in the year 1957 and located in the exclusive community of Thunderbird Heights, the home sits on 1.36 acres, and is genuinely a mansion with its 6,700 square feet of living space. Beauty surrounds this midcentury single-level with walls of glass, handcrafted wooden doors, and extensive indoor-outdoor space.

A stone fireplace and bar in the great home are the central point of the house — the outdoor living area is accessed from sliding glass doors.  The outdoor space features a spa, pool, and firepits all surrounded by manicured gardens.

The enormous 1,400-square-foot master suite with a fireplace, sitting area, as well as a spa bath, is the first of five bedrooms. The four other bedrooms are also en-suite.  The home has 5.5 baths in total.

The chef’s kitchen is complete with a breakfast bar, stainless steel appliances, and granite counter-tops. There are even a home theater and a billiard room in the home.

“The home is all about indoor-outdoor living and traditional-meeting-modern design—and it overlooks such a gorgeous backdrop,” says listing agent Fredrik Eklund of Douglas Elliman. Indeed, the home affords dramatic views of the Coachella Valley, mountains, and desert.

As with many homes of celebrities, this one has a little mystery. An attached two-bedroom casita with a separate entrance and its own kitchen supposedly was visited by Marilyn Monroe and John F. Kennedy.  It has been renamed the JFK wing even if the stories are only rumors.

The area has also been visited by several U.S. presidents including Barack Obama, Ronald Regan, Gerald Ford, and Richard Nixon.
